One of the things that makes life in Toronto so exciting is the constant evolution of the urban landscape. It seems like there’s a never ending supply of newly revitalized neighbourhoods to explore every year. Located just minutes from Riverside in Toronto’s west end, the new Woodbine Racetrack Entertainment Hub is poised to become perhaps the most significant new entertainment destination in a generation.

Earlier this year, Urbantoronto.ca posted a number of tantalizing details about this tremendous new development, situated on a sprawling 684-acre site surrounding the existing Woodbine Racetrack and Casino at Rexdale Boulevard and Highway 27.

The proposed plan for this new development sees a vibrant entertainment district that adds to the excitement of the current racetrack and casino. One of the primary highlights of the plan will be an expansive outdoor plaza that mimics the oval shape of the racetrack. Surrounding this will be a mix of new retail spaces, park-like landscaped areas and at grade parking.

The new neighbourhood is also slated to include a spectacular three-storey live performance venue, a second casino with retail, restaurants, bars and lounges built in, two 12-storey hotels overlooking the racetrack and more.

Spanning a size slightly larger than downtown Toronto, it’s no wonder this new development has been dubbed “a city within a city” by its supporters.
